Airlines that offer military discounts want to help the men and women who serve our country travel home to see their loved ones. Most airlines offer some sort of deal, but you usually have to call the company directly and specifically ask for a discount. This article provides a good starting point if you want to find individual airlines that usually offer deals to military service men and service women.
Delta Airlines
Delta has a place among the airlines that offer military discounts. They also provide these less expensive ticket prices for international adoptions, government officials, and bereavement. Not all flights and itineraries have discounted tickets available, however, so passengers should contact the airline if they want to travel on a specific date.
Discounted military flight tickets aren't advertised anywhere and the company doesn't post them online. You have to call the Delta reservation desk and specifically ask for the cheaper price. If they have a discounted seat available, you get it.
American Airlines
Although American Airlines doesn't offer discounted airfare on all flights, military men and women do receive deals between certain cities. The larger cities with airport hubs usually have the discounts, but go ahead and call the customer service line if you need to travel to a smaller city and need a budget flight.
The smaller cities sometimes use smaller AA flights like AmericanConnection and American Eagle. Once and a while these airlines give special military deals. Call 1-800-433-7300 for the reservation line. Usually these come on a first come, first served basis and they only allow a certain amount of cheap tickets per flights.
United Airlines
United Airlines offers discounted airfare for military personnel every once in a while. The website states that they may offer discounts, but you have to call the ticket office to ask. Sometimes, however, they offer quick sales for only the military. Sometimes these last for only 72 hours, or as little as 8 hours. You just have to call their reservation line often.
Airlines that offer military discounts show tremendous respect for the sacrifices service men and women make for their country. Sometimes the discounts aren't huge, but every little bit counts. Also, ask if the discount applies to immediate family members of active military members. This way you can accurately budget your travel expenses.
