Bed bug bite symptoms vary from person to person. Once found, they indicate an infestation in the home, hotel, or bed. This article identifies the symptoms.

Bed bug bite symptoms vary from person to person. While some experience an extreme reaction, others simply notice a red bite mark and nothing else. Exterminating bed bugs entirely is very difficult, so it is important to identify a problem right from the start. If you suspect you might have little creatures visiting you while you sleep, this article can help you determine if they're bed bugs or not.

Appearance of Bed Bug Bites

Bed bug bite symptoms don't start right away, but when they do, people notice small red bumps. These usually don't send up red flags right away because they look like typical mosquito bites, not too small, but definitely not too big

A bed bug bite usually comes in a particular pattern, however. While mosquitoes bite humans willy-nilly in no particular order, bed bugs usually bite in a straight line. People usually see three or four small red bumps all in a line. Some experts call this the "breakfast, lunch, and dinner" marks. Although bed bugs will sometimes bite only once, it isn't the norm.

Increasing Bite Symptoms

It takes over a week for bed bug bite symptoms to show up in people who have never been bitten before. The more frequent the bites, the quicker the symptoms appear on humans. When people do experience more severe symptoms, the bumps sometimes swell up and itch much more than a typical mosquito bite. The itchy irritation also lasts longer. Sometimes doctors misdiagnose bed bug bites as scabies, so make sure you're armed with information before visiting the doctor.

Bed Bug Signs in the Home

If you suspect a bed bug infestation in your home, your walls will show proof. In addition to your body, use your house as a clue to a bed bug problem. Near the ceilings, in the corner of the bedroom walls, check for dark brown, black, or red marks. These marks are the blood and excrement from the bed bugs. They tend to congregate in the corners. Also, check hotel rooms for signs before sleeping in the beds. This could save you an uncomfortable week in the future.

The thought of bed bugs is usually enough to give people the heebie jeebies. No one wants little critters crawling over them while they sleep. To actively get rid of any problem, however, you must have the ability to identify and address any bed bug problem on your body or in your home.
