The preschool bible lesson for Jesus heals 10 lepers is a great way to teach children to be thankful for everything given to them. Also, it teaches them that Jesus loves everyone, no matter what they look like. This lesson works well for preschool teachers as well as Sunday school teachers.
Act Out Bible Lesson
First, read them the preschool bible lesson for Jesus heals 10 lepers. They need to hear the story first to understand how to act it out properly. Then, as the teacher, give yourself the role of Jesus. The children can be the 10 lepers. Even if there are too many or not enough kids, let them know they represent 10 sick people. Also, explain what leprosy is: a contagious skin condition that people used to think signified dirtiness and unholiness.
Acting out the lesson begins with Jesus on one side of the classroom and the lepers on the other side. Have the children yell, "Jesus, Have mercy on us!" Then walk to the lepers and tell them to walk to their priests. As the children begin to walk around the room, have them look at their arms and declare "I'm healed!" Have all the children, except one, keep walking.
The one child returns to the teacher Jesus and yells, "Thank you Jesus! You have healed me! Thank you!" Then, ask the child where the other nine men are, and why they have not come to also give thanks. The teacher then says, "Rise and go forth. Your faith has healed you."
Project of Thankfulness
Explain to children what it means to be thankful. You can be thankful for material goods, but you can also give thanks for the love of family members, Jesus, and your health. Thanksgiving is a great time of year to use this lesson because it is the month of thankfulness.
Create a bulletin board with the words "Thank you Jesus." Then, give each child small construction paper cut-out hearts. Each child should have at least four hearts. Have children draw a picture on each heart of something they are thankful for. If you have older children in your class, they can also write words on the hearts as well.
Leper Song
Sing this song to the tune of "10 Little Indians."
One little, two little, three little lepers,
Four little, five little, six little lepers,
Seven little, eight little, nine little lepers,
Ten little lepers, but ONE thank you.
Have the kids stand up and hold up their fingers to represent the 10 lepers as they sing. This helps coordinate their fine motor skills as well as their knowledge of the bible lesson for Jesus heals 10 lepers.
Children grasp basic concepts about Jesus and God. The most important aspect in the bible lesson for Jesus heals 10 lepers is the importance of giving thanks to God. The details of the lesson aren't nearly as important as the big picture.
